Purchasing a second home in the Mad River Valley was a long-time dream of ours. Michael, or “Spike,” as he is known locally, was our buyer’s agent. We first met him when we looked at a piece of land he’d listed. We knew quickly that he was a good personality match for us, and that even if the land didn’t work out, we wanted to work with him. Michael’s honesty, knowledge of the area (he’s from here; in fact, he attended school at the East Warren Community Market back in the day), and low-pressure attitude made him an asset in the challenging process of buying long-distance during a pandemic.

 

Fast-forward 2 ½ years. Yes, he painstakingly took our calls, answered questions, taught us about the area, and did virtual showings during Covid, for 2 years! We looked at everything from land to condos to single-family homes. He never pressured us. He just gave us the facts about the properties and the different areas in the Valley, and let us make the best decision for our family.

 

And, because he is so well-known in the area and is so low-key, we landed our perfect property with no bidding war! Our sellers decided to just work with us because they knew the sale would be straightforward and without added stress with him as our agent. In the end, we found the perfect property for our family and have no regrets. It always seems a bit awkward when moving to a new town and having to search out a real estate broker to entrust your future with.  So when my wife and I did such a search in the late summer of 2020 for the Mad River Valley area, above all we were looking for someone we could trust.  We found Mike online and we really hit gold.  Not only is he honest and trustworthy beyond reproach, but he is also down to earth and knows the area inside and out, having spent most of his life here in the Mad River Valley.  Mike made all aspects of the buying process easy for us which was no small feat with the country being in virtual lockdown and us being in PA.  I truly cannot recommend Mike highly enough.  He is a fantastic guy!
